As the official Mt. Fuji climbing season ends in early September, the off-season climb present a less crowded climb. However, during this time of year, as no mountain huts are open, you must carry all of the supplies (food, water and equipment) that you may need over the course of the day.
Climbing Mt. Fuji in a single day provides a unique experience and a personal challenge. While preparation is key, the rewards of solitude, breathtaking views, and a sense of accomplishment make it an unforgettable adventure.
Important Information:
One day trips do not allow for a summit for sunrise.
Please understand that during an off-season Tour, daylight hours are shorter compared to in-season trips. For 1-day trips, the average ascent time is 5 hours and the cut-off to reach the summit is at 2:30 PM or 6 hrs, and the average descent time is 3-4 hours. While most of the day will be in daylight, it might start getting dark during the latter part of the descent. The terrain on Mt. Fuji is steep and rocky, with a mix of slippery and grippy surfaces. Please also be aware that although there's usually no snow on the ground, it's not uncommon to encounter snow or cold conditions. Since it's the off-season, the trails won't be maintained.
Your guide(s) may turn you around at any point if your pace is too slow or any reason that may compromise you and the group's safety.
*You may be walking on snow at higher elevations for June and early July trips.
Regarding food, there will be no options to purchase anything on the mountain. We will not stop for lunch but rather take short breaks where we can snack. Please make sure to have enough snacks/ water for about 9-10 hours (our guides like to carry around 3L of water).
During the official climbing season of Mt. Fuji (July 10- September 10) all Mt. Fuji Guides trips are run by our sister operation Fuji Outdoor.
Mt. Fuji Guides and Fuji Outdoor, both divisions of JRT Trading, work in close collaboration, sharing many staff, office space, resources, and a commitment to providing exceptional Mt. Fuji experiences. While both brands offer similar core tours, they cater to distinct needs.
Essentially, Mt. Fuji Guides handles the off-season climbs, while Fuji Outdoor broadens the scope to include custom journeys throughout Japan.
*There is no difference to the booking procedure when booking an in-season trip through Mt. Fuji Guides.
